Yvette ~ has decided she is the 'CANCER NINJA!!'

GHS Class of 1990 Tribute

This past summer, we had our 20th class reunion. Unfortunately, due to Yvette's illness, she wasn't able to join us. We missed her smiling face and her contagious laugh!

There were several classmates wondering what we could do to help her out. A few of us have been discussing some different ideas. We thought it might be helpful to try and help take a little strain off some of the never ending medical bills.

Since so many of us are far away ~ we wanted to make this as easy as possible.

So, as a tribute ~ from her fellow Braves, GHS Class of 1990 ~ we've created this page. A way for family and friends to try and pull together to help alleviate some of the financial stressors Yvette is currently facing.

Our hope is to spread this site with everyone that knows Yvette, who have been wondering how they could help! It's a very quick and easy way to make a huge difference!

You will find a "donate" button at the bottom of this page. If you would like to help her out, you can click on the "donate" button at the bottom of this page. You can have any amount of funds securely transferred (electronically) into Yvette's bank account.

She is definitely a fighter ~ ~ ~ and a GIVER!

Thank you, everyone! She greatly appreciates everyones kind words, positive energy, love and prayers!

Her sister Paula continues to update her Care Pages site, with her treatment progress as well!

Godspeed Our Friend

Update from Yvette's Care Page

It is with terrible sadness and sorrow that the family shares the news that Yvette passed away today around 11:40am. Her passing on this day was a bit unexpected. The nurse had been by earlier in the morning and Yvette’s vitals were good. Of course, we all know that she has been “willing” her tired body to fight for the girls, and for those she loved. It was just Yvette’s time for a well deserved rest. Yvette’s memorial is on Saturday, June 9th from 1 to 4pm at Betzler Life Story Funeral Home. Life Story is located at 6080 Stadium Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Their website is lifestorynet.com

UPDATE MAY 9, 2012

Last month, Yvette told me she has been "having some complications and has been in out of the hospital quite a bit. It doesn't look like my body will tolerate chemo any more." Her Care Pages tonight says "Yvettes been having a hard time maintaining good blood levels, lots of infusions and platelets. Asking for some extra prayers and good vibes please." Sending LOTS of love, strength and extra prayers Yvette's way! Keep fighting Cancer Ninja!

New Hope for 2012

As Yvette starts her 4th year of this battle, there is some renewed hope. A recent trip to Boston to meet with top experts in the field led to a new aggressive treatment strategy.
The specialist that she met with concluded "while chemo has given her some success, she has some chemo resistant cells that continue to metastasize."
They have found a new brain tumor that she is going to treat first with full brain radiation and chemo injections into her spine. Once they get that tumor taken care of, she can do an experimental treatment of receiving very high doses of chemo with stem cell transplant support. This treatment has had some documented success.
Through it all she has maintained a positive spirit and energy that has humbled us all. I believe that she would say that she has also been humbled by the amount of love, support and prayers from all of you.
If you would like to send along something extra, the donate button at the bottom of the page, securely sends donations directly to Yvette’s account.
We love you Yvette!!

Round 5

Yvette had a spot removed on her lung in early December.
The pathology report showed that it was cancer. She will
be starting her 5th round of chemo on December 21st.
